About the work
I am drawn to the quiet, everyday moments of human life, and I find watercolor to be the perfect medium to capture them. Its soft, fleeting nature pairs seamlessly with these passing scenes. By leaning into watercolor's unique ability to hold light and express mood, I infuse these slices of life with a sense of nostalgia.
To find these moments, I often take my easel outside. Painting en plein air allows me to step directly into my community; casual chats with passersby and the energy of New York City itself have become integral to my creative process over the years. This unpredictable environment forces a technical spontaneity that carries over into my studio work, which I find essential to creating watercolors that feel alive.
