Commission policy

The process:
I am always happy to discuss custom original paintings. Each commission typically takes 4 to 5 weeks from the initial deposit to completion.

  • Initial sketch: Within the first 2 weeks, I will provide a detailed preliminary sketch. This is the stage where we finalize the composition, lighting, and overall feel of the piece.

  • Final painting: Once the sketch is approved, I begin the final watercolor process on Saunders Waterford 140lb rough press paper. I will share a high-resolution photo of the completed painting before it is prepared for shipping or local pickup.

Payment terms

  • Deposit: To secure a spot on my calendar and begin the sketching phase, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total project fee is required upfront.

  • Final payment: The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the artwork, prior to shipment or delivery.

Revisions & repaints

Watercolor is a permanent and unforgiving medium, which is why the sketching phase is so important.

  • Included revision: I offer one free repaint if the final piece does not align with the agreed-upon sketch.

  • Additional changes: Any further repaints or significant changes to the composition after the final painting has begun may incur additional fees.

Shipping & framing for commissions

Commissioned pieces follow my standard shipping and framing policies. They are shipped in a heavy duty tube, insured, and require a signature upon delivery. If you are local to NYC, we can discuss custom framing options during the final payment phase.

Each original work is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece hand-painted on professional-grade Saunders Waterford 140lb rough press paper. Due to the nature of watercolor, please note that colors may vary slightly from screen to screen.
